Proper application will guarantee the best results.
To eliminate stains from a whiteboard, start by using a dry erase eraser or a soft cloth along with a whiteboard cleaner. If the stain remains, apply Smarter Surface Permanent Ink Remover to the affected areas of your surface. This product is highly effective but is not intended for everyday cleaning.
To achieve an ideal whiteboard finish, please:
- Preparation - Fill in any holes on the surface with decorators filler, then sand the area smooth and clean off any dust from sanding. Apply your chosen colour to the surface, typically requiring three coats of coloured paint for a solid finish, sometimes more.
- Before using the Clear Whiteboard Paint, make sure you have enough to cover the desired area. Stretching the paint can impact the whiteboard's effectiveness.
- Keep in mind that this is a one-coat specialty coating. For best results, we recommend rolling over the surface multiple times with the roller to ensure the paint is well-distributed and that no areas are missed. After completing a section, pause and check visually for any spots that may have been overlooked.
Each kit comes with a roller designed for use with clear whiteboard paint. For optimal results, apply the paint with a mohair or lint-free short-pile roller sleeve. If you opt for a mohair roller, ensure that all loose fibers are removed before use.
Clear whiteboard paint can be applied to nearly any smooth surface (metal, glass, concrete, wood, etc.). If you are applying clear whiteboard paint over an already coloured surface, primer is not necessary.
