Yes, black chalkboard paint can stick to metal surfaces. However, there are a few factors to ensure proper adhesion and durability. Clean and lightly sand the surface, apply one or two coats of White Primer, then finish with two coats of black chalkboard paint. Allow it to dry before use fully.

Once applied to your wall allow it to fully dry for 24 hours and then condition your blackboard surface by rubbing a piece of chalk all over the surfaces and wiping off with a dry cloth or duster.

We recommend applying Smarter Surfaces black chalkboard paint onto a previously primed surface or painted surface. If applying onto an uncoated surface, we recommend applying two coats of a water-based primer such as White Primer to prepare the surface.

Black chalkboard Paint is suitable for use on plaster, wallboard, wood, metal, plastic and concrete. It is important to use a White Primer or any water-based primer to prime the surface before application. For indoor use only.

Each tin of Black Chalkboard Paint contains .20 of a gallon or 750ml of paint that covers 65ft² with two coats.

Your blackboard surface can be used like a normal blackboard. You can use standard chalk and chalkboard markers to write on your surface. Chalkboard markers are wet-erase and can be cleaned off by using a damp cloth.

You can use standard blackboard dusters to clean your surface on a regular basis. Like all blackboards, regular use will cause a build up of chalk dust on your wall. To remove excess dust, you can clean your Blackboard Surface with water on a damp cloth.

How To Apply Blackboard Paint?

Anyone can apply blackboard paint, professional installation is not required.

Use a roller or spray, and for best results, a mohair, foam, or smooth lint-free roller is recommended. Follow the steps below:

Step 1 - Prime any uncoated surface.
Step 2 - Make the surface ready by filling in any imperfections and sanding it down to a smooth finish. Apply another white primer coat if required after sanding.
Step 3 - Apply two coats of blackboard paint, making sure to let the first layer dry completely before adding the second layer.
Step 4 - Wait 24 hours, then condition your blackboard surface by rubbing a piece of chalk all over your surfaces and wiping off with a dry cloth or duster.
