At Smarter Surfaces, we recommend 3 coats of Magnetic Wall Paint. You can apply extra coats to increase the magnetic performance (no more than 7). Make sure to stir the magnetic paint before use.

Yes, magnetic paint works by effectively spreading a layer or multiple layers of liquid metal magnetite onto a surface like a wall. With three layers or coats of magnetic paint the liquid metal builds up to become a surface that is highly attractive to magnets almost like a metal sheet. Magnets will bond to the surface.
